1. கடல் -மணிரத்னம் அலைபாயுதே படத்துக்குப்பின் ஒரு லவ் ஸ்டோரியை கையில் எடுத்திருக்கார். இவர் இதுவரை எடுத்த எந்த லவ் ஸ்டோரியும் ஏமாற்றியதில்லை . ராவணன் , ஆய்த எழுத்து ஆகிய தோல்விப்படங்களால் படத்துக்கு ஓப்பனிங்க் கம்மியாத்தான் இருக்கு . 

மணிரத்னம் - ஏ ஆர் ரஹ்மான் கூட்டணியில் வந்த 11 படங்களில் ரோஜா, பம்பாய், அலைபாயுதே மட்டும்தான் தமிழில் ஹிட்.  குரு ஹிந்தியில் ஹிட் . மற்றபடி பெருசா சொல்லிக்கற அளவு இல்லை .ஆனா இளையராஜா கூட்டணில எல்லாமே ஹிட். இதயக்கோயில் மட்டும் வசூல்ல பேக் அடிச்சுது . ஒளிப்பதிவு ராஜீவ்மேணன் பட்டாசைக்கிளப்பி இருப்பார்னு நம்பலாம்.

 மற்றபடி கீதாஞ்சலி கிரிஜா மாதிரி துளசி சக்க ஃபிகரும் இல்லை. ஒரேயடியா மொக்கை ஃபிகர்னு ஒதுக்கிடவும் முடியாது . கதை வசனம் நம்மாளு ரைட்டர் ஜெயமோகன்.

பிரபல திரைப்பட இயக்குநர் மணிரத்னத்தின் ஆக்கத்தில் வெள்ளியன்று வெளியாகவிருக்கும் கடல் திரைப்பட வெள்ளோட்ட வீடியோவில் கதாநாயகி, 15 வயதே ஆன துளசி, கதாநாயகனை உதட்டில் முத்தமிடுவது போல ஒரு காட்சி வருகிறது.

இவ்வளவு இளம் வயதில் பாலியல் உணர்வுகளைத் தூண்டும்வகையில் நடிக்க வைப்பது அறமா என ஒரு சிலர் கேள்வி எழுப்பியிருக்கின்றனர்.

எழுத்தாளர் ஞானி இது பற்றி தொடர்ந்து எழுதி வருகிறார். அவர் திரைப்பட இயக்குநர்களுக்கு சமூகப்பொறுப்பு வேண்டுமென்கிறார்.

பிரபல இயக்குநர் பாக்கியராஜ் நடக்காததை ஒன்றும் அப்படிப்பட்ட காட்சிகள் காட்டிவிடவில்லை, ஆனாலும் அவ்வளவு வெளிப்படையாக இல்லாமல் இருந்திருக்கலாம் என்கிறார்.

மேலும் திரையுலகில் பெண்கள், சிறுமியர் அனைவருமே மிகப் பாதுகாப்பாக கௌரவமாக நடத்தப்படுகின்றனர் என்கிறார் அவர்.

 2.டேவிட் - மணிரத்னம் சிஷ்யர் எடுத்த படம் . பாலிவுட் சினிமாவை போல கோலிவுட்டிலும் இரண்டு ஹீரோக்கள் சேர்ந்து நடிக்கும் டிரண்ட் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. சமீபத்தில் வெளியான அவன் இவன், விரைவில் வெளிவர இருக்கும் முகமூடி, கலகலப்பு(மசாலா கபே) போன்ற படங்களை சொல்லலாம். பாலிவுட்டிற்கு முன்னரே தமிழ் சினிமாவில் இரண்டு ஹீரோ சப்ஜெக்ட் நடைமுறை இருந்து வந்தது. அதன்பிறகு ஹீரோக்களுக்கு தனியாக முக்கியத்துவம் கருதி இந்தநிலை நீடிக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் பாலிவுட்டில் மட்டும் எப்போதும் போல ஷாரூக், சல்மான், அமீர் போன்றவர்கள் இந்த பாணியை பின்பற்றி வருவதால் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் மீண்டும் இரண்டு ஹீரோக்கள் சப்ஜெக்ட் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது.

இந்நிலையில் டைரக்டர் பிஜய் நம்பியார், அடுத்து தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, இந்தி ஆகிய மூன்று ‌மொழிகளில் ஆக்ஷ்ன் மற்றும் த்ரில்லர் கலந்த ஒரு படத்தை இயக்க உள்ளார். தமிழ் மொழியில் உருவாகும் படத்திற்கு டேவிட் என்று பெயர் வைத்துள்ளார். இதில் ஹீரோக்களாக விக்ரம் மற்றும் ஜீவா ஆகியோர் நடிக்க உள்ளனர். இதுதவிர இந்தி மற்றும் தெலுங்கில் முக்கிய இரு ஹீரோக்கள் நடிக்க பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடந்து வருகிறது.

தற்போது ஜீவா மிஸ்கினின் முகமூடி மற்றும் கவுதமின் நீதானே என் பொன் வசந்தம் படத்திலும், விக்ரம் - விஜய்யின் தாண்டவம் படத்திலும் நடித்து வருகிறார். இவர்கள் இருவரும் தங்களது படங்களை முடித்த பின்னர் டேவிட் படத்தில் இணைவார்கள் என்று தெரிகிறது. பிரபல டைரக்டர் பிஜாய் நம்பியார், விக்ரம் மற்றும் ஜீவா ஆகியோர்களை வைத்து இயக்கி வரும் படம் டேவிட். இப்படத்தின் கதை புதுமையாகன கதை அம்சத்தை கொண்டது. நாட்டின் இரு வேறு பகுதிகளில் வசிக்கும் டேவிட்டுகளை மையமாக கொண்டு கதை அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்த இருவரும் எடுத்து வைக்கும் ஒரு அடி அவரது வாழ்க்கையே மாற்றி விடுகிறது. மும்பை மற்றும் கோவாவில் இரண்டு கதைகளும் நடைபெறுகின்றன.  மும்பையில் கிறிஸ்தவ குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்த 18 வயதான டேவிட்(ஜீவா) எனும் இசைக்கலைஞரின் கதை மற்றும் கோவாவில் மீனவ குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்த 35 வயதான டேவிட்டின்(விக்ரம்) கதையும் பின்னிப் பிணைந்து இந்த படம் சொல்கிறது.

விக்ரம், ஜீவா ஆகியோருடன் நடிகைகள் தபு, இஷார் சர்வானி, நாசர் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடித்துள்ளனர். கொலவெறி புகழ் அனிரூத் உள்ளிட்ட 7 இசையமைப்பாளர் இசையமைத்துள்ளனர். ரத்னவேலு மற்றும் பி.எஸ்.வினோத் ஆகிய இருவரும் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்துள்ளனர். ரீல் என்டர்டெயின்மென்ட் மற்றும் ராம்பேஜ் மோஷன் பிக்சர்ஸ் ஆகியவற்றோடு கேட்வே பிலிம்ஸ் சார்பில் பிஜய் நம்பியார் மற்றும் சாரதா த்ரிலோக் தயாரிக்கின்றனர்.

3. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters -In this spin on the fairy tale, Hansel & Gretel are now bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.

This is not a quality film and I don't think they even meant it to be good or memorable. If you watched the trailers and *didn't* expect it to be terrible, I'd be very, very surprised. I would never have paid to see this. I only saw it because I got passes to a free advance screening. And it was just as ridiculous as I expected - and I was pretty entertained. We were laughing pretty hard the whole time.

The movie wasn't trying to have a good plot or a surprise twist. Clocking in at a little over an hour, it could have been season finale of a B-grade TV series of the same premise. I think movie was just trying to be funny, and I think their jokes worked. Like how Hansel has a "medical condition" (not spoiling it here). It doesn't work in a physiological sense - but who cares? It was really funny that they even made that connection!

There was an incredible amount of gore in this movie; but I suppose that itself was a joke, given the premise of the movie. Their other jokes relied on anachronisms (weapons, fanboys, crime investigations). But they were careful enough that the anachronisms were funny in the context of the world-building instead of being glaring anomalies.

There might be some people complaining about what an inadequate film this was with respect to plot, but that would be missing the point. Don't watch this expecting to take away anything - it's really only just for the lawls.

 

4.Listen... Amaya -  Book a coffee", is an offbeat library cum coffee shop. It is owned and run by Leela Krishnamoorthy, a middle aged widow. She herself is as interesting and free spirited as the café she runs! Amaya, Leelas only child is a fire-brand 22 year-old writer; quick witted, confident and open-minded. They adore each other as only mother daughter can.

Into this mix, is thrown Jayant Sinha. A 60 year old retired photographer, who continues his chosen profession as a hobby today. He is passionate about people and the memories they create; he is also a great friend to Amaya Krishnamoorthy, with whom he decides to co-author a coffee table book, titled 'Memories of The Busy Bazaar.' The Busy Bazaar as a title has its own story and adds a subtle but intriguing undercurrent to the narrative woven around it.

After having lost her husband 12 years ago, Leela refuses to become a stereotypical wallflower, who wallows in the unfairness of life. It translates into the sort of person she becomes, the way her daughter is brought up and the people who are attracted to her.

And along the way, Leela falls in love again.

Given that Amaya is open minded and modern in the way she reacts to various things around her, gives Leela reason to believe that this will in no way be a hindrance or a problem with her daughter. And this is also the crux of the whole story.

At a dinner he is at with Leela, Jayant begins to narrate the incident in which he tragically lost his family. Talking late into the night, Jayant spends the night in Leela's home, which is also when Amaya walks in on them the next morning; just as Leela is consoling a broken Jayant who's just finished his heart rending story. As relationships that were once rock solid, fracture and crumble, the film explores multiple relationships in their own unique ways.

It also traces Amaya's journey of anger, betrayal and disbelief to one where she understands the reasons behind everything that has happened between mother and daughter. Once her head clears, Amaya is the one that makes the effort to rebuild lives, piece together shattered relationships and bring the missing sunshine back into everybody's lives.

Other characters beautifully woven into the film also add to the layering and texture, that character driven films demand. Finally, there is also a sub plot that runs alongside the main narrative, which becomes the sublime finale to a sensitive, subtly humorous and extremely touching story.

 

5. Ongole Gitta' - film is based on four lives during the 1986 floods in Godavari districts. Complete schedule of shooting for this movie is finished few days back and an eco-friendly set is erected with 120 huts and houses in 27 acres of land especially for this flick. This movie has star cast of Aadhi, Taapsee Pannu, Lakshmi Manchu & Sundeep Kishan as the leads. Kumar Nagendra is directing this movie and cinematography is taken care by M.R.Palanikumaar, music by Ilaiyaraaja. 

 

6. 'Lokpal'  - The Malayalam movie 'Lokpal' starring actor Mohanlal has released in eighty plus screens with an average report.

The movie is a suspense thriller. It is directed by Joshiy and the most acclaimed actor Mohanlal is playing as the lead character opposite to Kavya Madahavan in the film. The film is revolves around the theme of corruption, however, the movie is not overtly political. 

Shammi Thilkan, Manian Pillai Raju and Saikumar are also playing important roles in the film. 

 

7. Midnight's Children - pair of children, born within moments of India gaining independence from Britain, grow up in the country that is nothing like their parent's generation. 

After reading the novel more than once I thought that this (much anticipated) film was pure perfection. The characters were brilliantly cast - no one was 'glamourised' unnecessarily as in a lot of films. The scenery and cinematography were spectacular and the soundtrack was also beautiful. 

The film explores the human condition and the ideology that it is not what you are born but how you are then made that is most important. It is a really magical film and I particularly liked how the theme/idea of magical realism was approached - the idiosyncrasies of belief in different people/cultures. 

I would recommend this film although I would say that reading the novel is also a must. It (obviously) covers events in a lot more detail and adds a perfect backdrop of knowledge (of characters and characteristics) to the film. I cannot wait for the next Salman Rushdie movie...I'm hoping for Shalimar the Clown or The Ground Beneath her Feet (if you're reading Salman!)

8. .Jabberwock -American World Pictures and Bron Studios have released the first images from Steven R. Monroe’s “Jabberwocky”, which just completed production and is now headed into post. Monroe is coming off the remake of “I Spit on Your Grave”, and previously directed the films “It Waits” and “House of 9″, both of which I found very decent. 

“Jabberwocky” looks like a swords-and-monsters fantasy movie, and co-stars Tahmoh Penikett (of “Battlestar Galactica” fame) and Kacey Barnfield (recently in “Resident Evil: Afterlife”).Starring Tahmoh Penikett, Michael Worth, Kacey Barnfield, Raffaello Degruttola, Steven Waddington, Richard Riddell, Ian Virgo, and directed by Steven R. Monroe.
